Akaratos is a small craft company where interior and textile products are made in a limited number. The character of the products gives credit tot the name wayward.

I have built my knowledge and skills from within the technical school of Costume-Couture, followed by the Academy for Arts, department Fashion (in Maastricht) and Fashion, Design and Strategy, nowadays known as Artez (in Arnhem). I also trained for a florist. The process from inspiration to creation gives me pleasure and fulfillment, which in the end transforms to a special product as an end result. These surprising products are made with care and attention.

The material mainly come from natural fibers. For example different kinds of wool, alpaca, silk, cotton, linen, viscose and bamboo. The fabrics are from kvadrat.

The challenge with interior products lies not only in the design but also in the production process. Like for example vases. These should be able to stand alone.

Green Emotion is the name of the indoor exhibition from the FLORIADE 2012, World Horticultural Expo in Venlo. I was working as a flower arranger at this expo.

From 2012 I started making ‘free work’. The ‘free work’ already begins with the materials. Currently I produce my own yarns itself, the base is hand spon. I use the handspun yarn in co-pending with existing materials, whether or not re-used. During the spinning of the yarn, the structures in the yarn are important. If necessary I dye the yarns.

Have a look and enjoy it.
